It is not because we don't care or do not try to be healthy,

For increased shelf life, some of the ingredients will

of heart disease, cancers, diabetes, allergies and other
disorders. Could there be a connection between diet and

severely diminished. Fruits, vegetables and other plants
that we rely upon to supply minerals in our diet cannot
take adequate amounts of minerals from soil that is deficient
in them. Conventional farming (i.e., intensive farming
that uses chemicals) returns little or nothing to the
soil and gradually depletes the soil of minerals. As only
a small number of nutrients are replenished in chemical
fertilisers (especially nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus),
the soil gradually loses trace elements essential for

Perhaps the
best summary is by
Dr. William A. Albrecht, Chairman of the Department of
Soils at the University of Missouri, who said: |

"A declining soil fertility, due to
a lack of organic material, major elements, and trace minerals,
is responsible for poor crops and in turn for pathological
conditions in animals fed deficient foods from such soils,
and that mankind is no exception."
Dr. Albrecht goes further to unequivocally
lay the blame:
"NPK formulas, as legislated and enforced
by State Departments of Agriculture, mean malnutrition, attack
by insects, bacteria and fungi, weed takeover, crop loss in
dry weather, and general loss of mental acuity in the population,
leading to degenerative metabolic disease and early death."

ABOUT DR. ALBRECHT:
Dr. Albrecht began publishing scientific papers
in 1918 and was a prolific writer though 1970, just a few
years before his death. It is interesting to observe the evolution
of his papers as the correlations between soil health and
human health became more obvious through his research.
